Nicki Minaj Addresses Metta World Peace’s Name Change

“I thought it was hilarious, it was very shocking and I love that you have such a great sense of humor,” Nicki Minaj says to Metta World Peace regarding his brief name change.
Only a few weeks after Metta World Peace changed his name for just two days to Metta Minaj, the former NBA player spoke with the Young Money artist during an exclusive interview for his own website,MettaWorldPeace.com.

Nicki Minaj complimented Metta on his sense of humor while discussing the name change — which came just days after the release of Minaj's The Pinkprint cut "Trini Dem Girls," where the rapper name-dropped the former New York Knicks player.
“I thought it was hilarious, it was very shocking and I love that you have such a great sense of humor,” she said.
Elsewhere, Metta asked Minaj a variety of slightly peculiar and off-kilter questions, some of which can be seen below.
“No,” Minaj replies when asked if she considers Queens the Mecca of Hip Hop.
On the topic of her top 5 countries to perform in, Minaj says, “America, Trinidad, UK, France, Australia.”
“Being a lawyer and a mother,” were Minaj’s answers when asked what she would be doing if she wasn’t an entertainer.
When asked when fans can expect an appearance in a blockbuster movie, the Queens, New York rapper says, “Hopefully within the next year and a half.”

Nicki Minaj Recalls Penniless Past: I Used to Steal Bread

Before she one of the biggest female rappers in the game, Nicki Minaj was awaitress just trying to survive. The 32-year-old entertainer recalls her hard times coming up in the music industry in the latest trailer for her MTV documentary My Time Again.
"When I was a waitress we had to steal bread and eat that," Minaj tells her dancers at a rehearsal.
The documentary follows Minaj during the making of her latest album ThePinkprint, a time she calls "an emotional roller coaster."
"No one could prepare for this business," she says. "Until you are in it, you really can't wrap your brain around it."

The behind-the-scenes footage includes when one of her crew members was bit by a snake during a MTV Video Music Award rehearsal of "Anaconda," a scene where members of her team call her "the best rapper" and a sweet visit to Minaj's grandmother's house.
"Every human needs to push themselves to the point of breaking sometimes," she says at the end of the trailer. "If you never break, you never know how much pressure you can take."

Having an abortion as a teenager "haunted me all my life"

There's more to Nicki Minaj than the booty-shaking vixen she plays in her "Anaconda" video. That's evident both on her new album, The Pinkprint, and in her interview for the cover of Rolling Stone, which reveals a rarely seen vulnerable side of the 32-year-old star.

Reflecting on her youth, Minaj recalled dating an older guy from Queens while she was a student at the famed performing-arts high school LaGuardia. Their relationship led to her getting pregnant, which was not part of her plan at the time.

"I thought I was going to die," she told Rolling Stone. "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through."
Ultimately, the "Va Va Voom" performer decided to have an abortion. "[It] has haunted me all my life," she admitted.

Indeed, as Us Weekly previously noted, Minaj addresses teenage abortion on one of her new songs, "All Things Go," which debuted earlier this month. "My child with Aaron would've been 16 any minute," she raps on the track.
The Grammy nominee is clearly still affected by her past, but she did what she thought was right at the time. "I wasn't ready," she told RS. "I didn't have anything to offer a child."

Not so anymore. Minaj has been open in recent years about wanting to have kids, telling Complex magazine in November that she hopes to be a mom sooner rather than later. "If I'm done with my fifth album and I don't have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed, as a woman because I feel like I was put here to be a mother," she shared.?

Nicki Minaj apologizes for Nazi-themed imagery in 'Only' music video: 'I'm very sorry and take full responsibility'

The 31-year-old rapper responded to her controversial 'Only' music video Tuesday via Twitter and told fans she ‘didn't come up with the concept.’ Nicki Minaj is apologizing after new music video sparks controversy. The 31-year-old rapper responded via Twitter Tuesday to using what looked like Nazi-themed imagery in the clip for her track "Only." "I didn't come up w/the concept, but I'm very sorry & take full responsibility if it has offended anyone," she said regarding the mass criticism. "Both the producer, & person in charge of over seeing the lyric video (one of my best friends & videographer: A. Loucas), happen to be Jewish." "The artist who made the lyric video for "Only" was influenced by a cartoon on Cartoon Network called "Metalocalypse" & Sin City," she added, attempting to explain the theme. The animated lyric video featuring Drake, Lil Waye and Chris Brown was released online on Saturday and shows Minaj as a fascist-looking figure presiding before an army of soldiers wearing red arm bands. The initals for her record label, Young Money, can be seen on large banners, which appears to resemble swastika-like flags.
